There is so much work to do right now.
But it seems like I, and a select few are the only ones that are busy and working for extended hours. Then there are staff who have no work to do. They come to the office and ask 'do you have any work for me to do?' And my answer has consistently been 'No not right now'. But how can that be? My philosophy is that there is always something to do. Get ahead on the week. Work on a presentation for next month. Am I not properly delegating duties for my team? Why do I feel so busy but some team members have nothing to do? As a leader I try to showcase hard work ethic and consistency. I want to be able to provide opportunities for my team. My actionable is to ensure that in the next couple of weeks I 'let go' of some of my duties and delegate. Because a team that works together. But also feel that they have a purpose. That makes a successful team.

From the wise words of Gary Vaynerchuk as he has said over and over before.
From my perspective, I'm beginning to understand that it is important in entrepreneurship to care about the large picture goals. But never dwell in the nuances of mundane work. If you do you will never meet targets or metrics. You will fail your team. And worst of all you'll fail yourself. I care so deeply about the sustainability of my organizations like Tandempark. But I couldn't care less about the day to day operational challenges. Because I work to employ people who are problem solvers. Who innovate and solve situations on their own. I refuse to be a helicopter boss. And I refuse to limit a person's ability to perform due to a small challenge that doesn't effect the larger picture goals and aspirations of the organization. Work with people that YOU would work for. Hire people who innovate, are autonomous, and can critically lead themselves through challenges. Focus on the larger picture aspirations as a founder or leader. THEN you will see success start to flourish. #journeyofayoungentrepreneur #tandempark #innovate I'm internally motivated to achieve my greatest dreams.
In fact, I'm maniacally motivated to the point that I leave no room for uncertainty. It's true that life's not a sprint but a marathon, and I'm dedicated to patiently waiting for my measure of success to become a reality. Do you want to become the next doctor? Do you want to become the next big politician? Do you want to become the next serial entrepreneur? Then go out and DO IT. Remain motivated and never leave room or the option of losing your dreams and aspirations. You CAN make those dreams a reality with hard work, dedication, and patience. I'm compulsively addicted to create efficiency where I see inneficient systems.
Work isn't something I do, it's something I love. I'm happy creating, dreaming, and working hard. And I don't think I'll ever stop. This is why I knew I was an entrepreneur. I don't take breaks and I won't stop working. Work at times or days others won't to create tangible success that others dream of having. I lead with positivity, and an undying willingness to say 'yes' to my employees. Whatever the situation, it's NEVER a problem, It's a challenge.
It's NEVER a no or 'that's not my job' because that limits development and conversation, or the opportunity for a beneficial outcome for both parties. I have to be very careful who I pick to work with in the future if I want to be successful. They must lead with positivity, they must be strength based and opportunistic, and they MUST be someone that I would follow as a leader as well. The entrepreneurial mind is like a messy, disorganized and overfilled table: there's always going to be one thing that falls off when another is added.
I emailed a Fortune 500 CEO to ask a question, thinking that I'm reaching out which is more than others would do'. But, rushing the message I realized I had written the wrong name in the introduction. How could I have done something so easy to double check, but such repercussions for my early stage persona. Lesson here is to take moments after you create something, whether and email or a product, and double and triple check even if you feel like you don't need to. It might be that moment that makes the difference between your successful future and a mediocre one. |
